Argonne BG/L Mail Lists and Majordomo
Announcements of interest to Argonne BG/L's user community are made via email
and saved in individual list archives. Argonne BG/L also supports a number of
user email lists. For a description of the available lists, their
membership and posting restrictions, and access to their archives,
please see Email Lists. All Argonne BG/L lists are of
the form <list-name>@bgl.mcs.anl.gov.
Membership requirements vary depending on the purpose of the list.
Some lists are open only to users with active BGL accounts, while
others are open to the general public. Our email lists are managed by
software called Majordomo. You can join, subscribe to
or cancel your participation, unsubscribe from by using
Majordomo commands and electronic mail. Majordomo can also provide
basic information about the lists. For a full details on how to use

This list is used by the BGL user community to communicate with each
other, sharing things like tips, problems, observations, and
solutions. Some example discussion topics include porting, compiling,
running codes, benchmarking results, advice for best practices of
programming, library use, data analysis, and other high-performance
computing issues. The BGL system administrators
will also receive the postings and will respond when most
appropriate.
Users may also use the 'joindiscuss' command on any BGL machine to turn
list membership off and on.
To turn on receiving discuss mail:
joindiscuss -y
To turn off receiving discuss mail:
joindiscuss -n

This list is used by the administrators of the Argonne BG/L
cluster to communicate operational status that would
be of interest to the active user community. Subscribe
to this list if you desire notification of events such
as short emergency outages and other temporal changes. Users are automatically
subscribed to this list.
Users may also use the 'notifyme' command on any BGL machine to turn
list membership off and on.
To turn on notification:
notifyme -y
To turn off notification:
notifyme -n
