Welcome to the Argonne BlueGene/L Computer Resource Area

The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) of Argonne National Laboratory operates BGL, a 1024 node, 2048 processor IBM BlueGene/L system. This system is to be used for scientific computing, application porting, system software development and scaling studies.

  • To request an account on the BGL System, use the MCS account request page and select the BGL resource: "Requesting a MCS account" page.
  • For startup information on using BGL, see the "Getting Started" page.
  • Experienced users should jump directly to the "Using BGL" pages.
  • Users and developers should check out the ANL BGL Wiki. This Wiki, run by MCS, is an open, shared resource for tips, configuration details, application porting tips, software, and tools.

BlueGene Consortium

Argonne is leading a consortium of laboratory and university research groups that are interested in the evaluation and early use of the BlueGene family of HPC systems. The mission of the consortium is to build a community of BG/L expertise that will foster the rapid scientific adoption of BG/L and develop experience in order to provide critical feedback to the architects and designers of the BG/P follow-on system.

For information about the Consortium and its activites, please visit the BGConsortium web site.
